Bird watching magazines, newsletter and books are a gold mine for birdwatchers as reference and educational material. Bird Watching magazines and new books will keep you up to date on equipment and bird hot spots. There only a few well know nationwide bird watching magazines, but hundreds of state and local bird watching magazines and/or newsletters. The most important birding book is a bird guide that gives full information about the bird, including description, geographic locations, picture or illustration, song or call, and their natural habitat.

The three most recommended bird watching magazines are: Birdwatchers Digest, Birders World, and Birds and Blooms. There is one other, it's expensive, Bird Watching at $116/yr, wow! There are bird watching magazines and newsletter tailored to their geographic locations. Again, bird watching magazines and newsletter will have informative information about what birds are hot in the area, some with photographs, tips about backyard birding and how to attract the birds you want in your backyard.

Bird Watchers Digest - is a backyard bird watcher dream. Tips on everything you can imagine about backyard birding, advice on birdfeeders and feeds, birdhouses and how to set them up, identifying birds, and even what to grow in your garden to help attract birds. The best part is the stories, some humorous and entertaining. This is a cover to cover bird watching magazine.

Birders World is more for the intermediate or advanced birdwatcher, it covers more on bird life and birding experience around America. Birders World articles are in full-color photography with information that follows the seasons of the birds.

Birds and Blooms is really a down-home basic type magazine about birds, bird watching, and flower and vegetable garden. Their articles cover a wide range of subjects and some have put me on the floor, funny.

If you enjoy bird watching, a subscription to any or all of these magazines will serve you well.

Field Guides - a must-have for any bird watcher.

General Bird Books - From the informative to the entertaining. Books that will cover the expanse of bird watching experiences of the author, books about a specific species, humorous stories about birds, informative bird watching,.

Travel to Exotic Places - Entertaining and informative dialogue about bird watching trips to foreign places, or how to plan bird watching trips. Some books just full of adventure that will tantalize the mind.

General Nature Books - These books cover more than birds. It will cover all of nature, including mammals, butterflies, etc.

Children's Nature Books - If you're kids are interested in nature, these are the books. Get them started young discovering all of nature, especially birds and bird watching.
