Our Backyard Wild Bird Pictures

There are times that I think our fine feathered friends know exactly what I'm doing and they are willing to do their best to impress you and us. I'm speaking of the swallows of course. They are most fun to take pictures of and when they get on a roll, they are beautiful to watch doing their aerobatics. The hardest to photograph is the pileated woodpecker, one movement and they are gone.

Presently I'm using a Minolta DiMage 7, 5.2 mega pixels camera, in preset highspeed and manual focus. The auto focus takes to long to focus. I have hundreds of wild bird pictures I have yet to add to this webpage and hopefully I'll get them up this winter. It's time consuming to fine tune the colors, brightness, and crop them to fit on this webpage, making two sizes, thumbnail and enlarged. The real problem to maintaining clarity is that jpg pictures degrade each time your mess with them, so I convert them to psd to work on the picture then convert the finished picture back to jpg and reduce there total pixels to work on the web. Lots of fun.

We thought you might enjoy some our wild bird pictures. Most of our bird watching, bird sightings and backyard bird pictures are taken along the Columbia River north of Kettle Falls in Northeastern Washington. We also do most of our bird watching and taking pictures from our back and front deck, and walks along the Columbia River.

We hope you enjoy our backyard wild bird pictures and occasionally our very big birds, or want-a-be birds.

One last note: Sorry, some of the pictures are a little fussy, things change fast with these birds. I'm not a professional photographer! I get one good shot out of a hundred and one excellent shot out of 1,000. However, some of these poor shots, I felt, were to good to pass up, Jack.
